If you want a decent standard of living you need to be a professional, not a worker.

What tax cuts ? More than one third of all income tax is paid by the top 1% of earners, 90% of all income tax by the top 50% of earners. The bottom 50% who you probably refer to as the working class, pay a tiny 10%. This applies to National insurance contributions as well. Most low earners receive far more from the state than they contribute.

@trickygoose2 Absolutely right.
2
The self employed aren't, we are too busy earning money.
2
@richardruff8712 Suppose your employer did the same and refused to pay you ?
2
@tractorted352 Very true, but it spoils the downtrodden working class narrative.
2
@brians132 Envy is very unappealing and it's ironic that Bankers and CEO's are always mentioned but Premier Division footballers and their managers aren't.

They don't get a wage, it's a salary. Professional people get a salary, workers get a wage.Change your mindset and do whatever it takes to become a professional.

@lewis123417 It's the hard pressed, down trodden, know nothing, working class narrative.
1
@marksavage1108 I'm all for the coronation, its great for tourism and the hospitality industry, but I would definitely cancel the public holiday the following Monday, the country can't afford that.
1
Perhaps your employers could do the same and not pay you for 2 months ?
1
If you want to earn a decent salary don't work in the public sector. Surely its obvious ?
1
@rickphillips5098 That involves effort and a fear of the unknown. The private sector pays far better.
1
As maths probably wasn't your best subject at school, MP's received a tiny 2.7% increase in pay last year, the previous year they didn't get any increase. So that's 2.7% increase over 2 years !
1
Won't happen, there is very little unionisation in the retail sector. Bottom line, get a better paid job, do whatever it takes.
1
Why is it only those who consider themselves the oppressed Working Class are obsessed about class ? I never think about class, it's irrelevant, I'm just me and I ensure I do ok.
1
The PM's salary is @ £175,000 a year, Sunak is worth @ £200m, his wife more than double that. His salary means nothing to him, he's probably earning that every week from other investments. Cutting MP's salaries hurts the Labour party the most, you do realise that ?
1
Premier division footballers and managers included ? Probably the most obscenely paid people in the country.
1
Not the self employed workers, we are too busy earning money.
1
There won't be any new laws to prevent strikes but they will ensure minimum cover is maintained if strikes take place.
1
Money well spent.
1
MP's salary increase last year which is independently assessed was a tiny 2.7% and the year before they didn't get any increase. Check your facts and don't just believe what your ignorant mates tell you.
1
Imagine if they had the intelligence, then they probably wouldn't be the lower paid anymore. Do whatever it takes to be successful.
1
Then only the rich could afford to be MP's, so no more Labour MP's.
1
Get a better job, do whatever it takes to be successful in life. Only you can help yourself.
1
I support myself and always have done.
