  1. There was an enquiry set up in 2015 which reported in 2022. It made 22 recommendations, only now are Labour proposing to implement one of them. The cost to the taxpayer was £186 million. Better to implement all 22 recommendations than kicking the can down the road for several years with another enquiry possibly lasting longer and costing even more. You probably didn't know ?

  9. Imagine you worked for a large organisation and each time a new instruction was issued you were able to decide if you wanted to do it or not ? The whip needs to exist.

  10. A Public Enquiry can only be instigated by a Government Minister who also gets to decide who the chairperson will be, it's usually a judge. Only a Public Enquiry has the statutory authority to compel people to attend. Reforms enquiry has severe limitations and questionable independence.
