For every single occupant. It would hurt those single parents with young families far more and they would most likely have been Labour voters.

Whilst there are some pensioners who will suffer hardship, there are others who enjoy a very comfortable standard of living. A more targeted approach such as limiting it pensioners who are basic rate tax payers would be a fair compromise.

@Sunrise9696-v2z I bet you were equally as keen to be rid of Sunak and the Tories. As you have found out to your cost change isn't always a change for the better. Realistically, the top contenders for Starmers job are Reeves, Cooper and Lamy the most senior members of the party. I prefer Starmer to any of them.

Reeves, Cooper or Lammy would be his most likely replacement. I prefer Starmer to any of them.

Does your boss sometimes ask you to do things you disagree with ? It's no different for MP's.

@davidharris4062 At least £10m in unencumbered assets is a realistic figure. Below this you are simply well off. Many people who appear rich with large house and expensive cars are not, they are mortgaged to the hilt and the car is on lease.

Self first !

Because it's a non means tested benefit.
2
It won't be, Starmer wouldn't risk a defeat so early on.
2
Not a chance, the office of Deputy PM isn't actually that important. The most senior members of the government after the PM are Reeves, Cooper and Lammy.

Could you live on a State pension ?

@yippeeki-yay1691 Means tested benefits have this obsession with savings, but not assets. If I can only get a means tested benefit by having less than £16k in savings and I have £50k, all I need to do is by a car for £35k and I qualify !

Just like being at work, you do as your boss tells you or you walk.

As you would be particularly if you were one of the many first time MP's.
1
The Triple Lock isn't only a concern to existing pensioners but to every working person who hopes one day to be able to retire.

Self first, particularly if you are one of the many first time MP's.

With such a large majority he has that luxury.

@nigeltrigger4499 Only those who qualify for Pension Credits which equates to an income of @ £13,000 pa, hardly enough to live on.
1
@imemine6494 Which they may find difficult if kicked out of the party.
