  1. You are absolutely right. I very much doubt if the public reaction would be the same if it had been a VAT cut or the removal of Fuel Duty rather than income tax, particularly for the highest earners ?

  2. Truss made it very clear in her election campaign that she was going to cut taxes. I wonder if the reaction would have been the same had she left income tax alone and cut VAT or removed fuel duty ? I don't believe tax cuts are the issue, just the one for high earners ?
