Lucky you, many Pensions would love to be in your position.

They don't have to chase you, they give you the option of paying it either in full or in part or having your tax coding amended for the next tax year to recover the overpayment. If your state pension is below the personal allowance threshold you don't pay tax, but tax is deducted from other income like an employers pension in excess of your personal allowance. It's really incredibly simple to understand.

When you get to become a Pensioner feel free to comment, until then don't.
2
They will have very little money to do anything with, so unlikely but a very modest increase to keep the State Pension under the threshold at such time as it happens may just be possible and politically a very good move.

@Borderman47 Me too, I retired at 50 and never had the need to work again. Happy days !

A non story. No one currently pays tax on their State Pension, in a few years time if Personal Allowances don't increase then they may do.
1
In simple terms, you get to keep 80p of every additional £1. Why be so negative, there are many other ways to earn additional income tax free like the "rent a room scheme".
1
@paddyandhisguitar2831 Could you live on just a State Pension ? Planning for retirement is essential if you want to do more than just exist.
1
State Pensions currently aren't this year and won't be until at least 2024/25.
1
Nice thought.
1
Poor people pay very little if any income tax and are those who get the most in State Benefits.
1
Nice to see a positive comment. Anything is possible if you really are prepared to do whatever it takes.
1
As a pensioner you will receive a winter fuel allowance and cost of living payment in the next month or so.
1
The full State Pension in the UK is still significantly less than the personal tax allowance although it may exceed this figure in a year or two if the rate of inflation continues to remain high and the personal allowance continue at the present level.
1
When I was still at school I recall being asked what I wanted to be. I don't remember "poor" being on my list and so ensured I wasn't.
1
@johnmorrison9424 You should, Im getting the same amount but it also includes an additional Cost of Living payment.
1
The business does have to actually trade. You can rent a room and get up to £7500 a year tax free.
1
You do realise this is a non story. The full State Pension is currently below Personal Allowance and will be for a few more years particularly as inflation is reducing.
1
They aren't currently and unlikely to be for several more years particularly if the rate of inflation continues to reduce. By which time the Personal Allowance will be increased.
1
Thats easy.

This guy looks like he has hasn't washed for months and sleeps in a cardboard box under some railway arches.
1
Mine is similar, but I also have several other sources of income. So what if I have to pay a bit of tax !
1
Most Tory voters don't live on just a State Pension. Why would you vote Tory if you were that poor ?
1
Why be poor, the choice is yours. Take responsibility for your own future, its what I did.
1
As a saver I would rather be clobbered for 20% tax (above the £1000 interest allowance) when Im earning @ 5% interest than not when I was only getting 1%.
1
If she's not living in the UK anymore what would be the point ?
1
I retired at 50 and have had no need to work since, jealous ?
