  2. With 25% of the vote like most previous Italian Presidents she has had to do deals with other parties which has necessitated her moderating her more far right policies to achieve power. During the last 11 years there has been 7 governments and it will be interesting to see if she does any better. I don't imagine gays are overjoyed !

  6. All speculation at present and it's important to remember that there is a minimum number of letters required before a vote can be called and then after surviving that vote, another can't be brought for 6 months. It's much too soon, but the media just love it.

  22. Without the House of Lords, a government with a sufficiently large majority would be free to pass any legislation they wanted, irrespective of how draconian or how much it restricted your personal liberties, totally unopposed. Is that what you really want ?
