  1. The average standing charge for a person using dual fuel is @90p per day, (£328 pa) that's far more than the winter fuel allowance.

  3. I take a different view and here's why. The MP's that have second homes are those that don't live close enough to Westminster to make regular commuting from home or their constituency practical. The alternative is for the taxpayer to meet the cost of central London hotel accommodation and those MP's spending a large amount of their day travelling rather than doing their job. The Chancellors official residence is 11 Downing Street, as it has been for previous Chancellors for hundreds of years.
