  2. North Sea oil and gas producers are charged a much higher rate of corporation tax 30% plus a 10% supplement, rather than 19% applied to other companies. In recent years Shell and BP have paid very little tax due to losses and offset expenses, but with excessive profits this year it will be very different. Things aren't as black and white as they first appear !
