Oh great, let's have another two months living in limbo while a new leader is elected.

@Colin623 They don't like being reminded it of it though !
2
@casa A point I have also made many times. Too much unfunded debt, but focusing on "tax cuts for rich" was a gift for the left.
2
They will, its the only tool they have for controlling inflation. A big hike at the next MPC meeting if not before is needed.
1
There are actually very few people I give a toss about either.
1
Truss was the choice of the Party members not her MP's, only @ 50 did, so she surrounded herself with her most loyal supporters rather than the best people for the jobs.
1
@kevinsyd2012 Unfortunately it's about perception, rather than substance. It simply plays into the hands of the left wing agenda.
1
She hasn't yet had any of her critics killed.
1
Agreed.
1
Always, it's about perception not substance.
1
@jakethistle9071 The irony is that Rishi a very rich man, wouldn't have given tax cuts to anyone including the highest earners.
1
@Asif24960 His wealth was a far bigger problem, he wouldn't appeal to ordinary voters. Truss was seen as more ordinary even though far less capable.
1
He is the most brilliant person in parliament.
1
The pleasure derived from not doing so is just too good to let pass. May 2024 is the time.
1
I would rather a Tory government irrespective of leader to a Labour one.
1
@YorkshireD1 Vote for them, that's all it takes.
1
The budgets cost in comparison to the Energy price cap, is only one third and now even less.
1
Who does like a tax cut ? Im saving £2500 on Stamp Duty, Im delighted.
1
To be fair all tax payers should pay the same rate of tax irrespective of earnings. Why should a person earning £150,000 a year pay 10 times the Tax and National Insurance someone earning £30,000 a year does. Five times the income, ten times the taxes, it's not fair. Remember 90% of all income tax is paid by the top 50% of earners.
1
@chrysalis4126 The fairest thing would be for everyone to pay the same rate of tax irrespective of earnings. There is no justification for having higher rate bands, other than its so easy to do.
1
Covid and Putins war did the damage, any PM would have made similar decisions.
1
Only one element of it, the rest stays.
1
Sounds familiar.
1
Play another record, I'm borrowed of this one.
1
Surely what a company decides to pay its employees is a commercial decision and no business of the Government. Suppose the Government decided to cap Premier Division Footballers and Managers pay, would they want to stay in the UK ?
1
A £2500 reduction in the stamp duty on my new home, is a big help and I'm very ordinary.
1
It wasn't the cost, which I agree was very small, but the perception of it being unfair.
1
Perhaps he will, time will tell.
1
The 45% tax rate will remain.
1
Good.
