  2. I just buy Varta, because although they are objectively pretty poor, they aren't that much worse than most other batteries many of which are far more expensive, and I can get them so damn cheap with my trade discount from the local bulk hardware store.

  3. @ Sure, it's generally not much, but in high load appliances, it is measurably different. As noted in the OP post, if you have crazy high gauge wiring - not such a big deal - but that's not realistic.
