It is important to remember Tesla was doomed to massive contraction anyway, and Musk knew this. They haven't had a real new product in a decade (discounting the Cyberjunk which is quickly becoming worthless) - they are falling behind in technologies they are supposed to be market leaders in, and China is now building better EV's cheaper. Also EV sales globally have dropped of a cliff. Also, SpaceX has spent nearly all of the money the government gave them to build the launch platform for the moon missions, and they haven't even been able to reach orbit with no payload yet. Elon knew all of this, and this is the main reason he has grasped hold of MAGA so hard - reasoning I think that if he can get hold of power he believes he can keep the government money flooding into his useless companies.

@ginamcgovern2042 The problem is it isn't about equality, it is about equity - and equity is a very subjective thing that can often become very distorted very quickly depending on the agendas of the people setting what is equitable.
