Yes, and I think gvts should do their bit to support families instead of treating people as worker units to shunt around for their own £profit and the profits of their mates in big industry. We're at a time now where this widespread policy is costing society/our gvts more than it yields in societal benefits and profits.

I'm by no means an apologist for the Catholics, but I can honestly say this about my own experience of schooling. Two of the three schools I was at had this effect. The third was brilliant. Perhaps not surprisingly, the damaging schools were state schools and the brilliant school was a secular fee-paying school (i.e. 'public' school' in the UK, private school in the US).

Well, I wonder. Is it a fresh insight? Our forebears knew a lot better than us it seems to me.

 @bobibufi1389 Well said.

Chances are that I'm quite a bit older than you. This interview didn't make me question anything. Instead, it was a hopeful intimation of a return to sanity that our western culture once enjoyed and which I grew up in. Mary is kindly non-judgemental and presents the case gently and skilfully. Even since a teenager, when 'women's lib' was in full flight, I knew it was bad for all of us. Indeed, it liberated men. But in so many ways that could fill a PhD thesis, it imposed new shackles on women and undermined, even destroyed very many children's chances of growing up with healthy nurturing, healthy self-esteem, clarity of goals and so on etc.

 @tommore3263 That's interesting to hear that Catholic schools are top of the league table there. It's the same in the UK. I sent my children to church schools. Not just for their educational quality but because of the reasons you describe.
