@steveorinox1313 Except that disinformation has ALWAYS been a part of free debate. Ditto spin. Yet more or less the right way forward has most often emerged in the West. As the communists found, to put all the power in the hands of a small ruling cadre and to quash free debate has always led to disastrous outcomes. History is a reliable teacher, may I suggest that you check it out?

@callmeej8399 IMHO, the answer to "mob mentality, disinformation, apathy, overstimulation, and the degradation of objective truth" etc, is better education. E.g. Why was British Constitution dropped from schools' curriculae? Ditto sociology and media studies? Come to that, why was Religious Studies with all its moralising messages stopped?

@jabbrewoki YES! Exactly. Of course it's messy, but at least 1000yr's worth of argumentation led directly to Western democracy and economic success and stability for the vast majority of citizens. Social engineering needs to stop. It is evil and anti-human.

@Teal_Seal Thank you for that! You gave me pause to imagine how life might have been over the past 3yrs nearly without all the gvt and NHS histrionics! Bliss! The state of UK ed is much the same as yours. Recently I had a look at a few UK universities prospectuses. Now, I spent more than 7yrs in unis. I'm not a stranger to these things....but the claptrap I read from unis recently was all but incoherent. There are few actual recognisable degree courses! It's all interwoven with the most ludicrous woke word salad, like it's a different planet!
