  4. Great to hear Sharon calling it as it is, so clearly and courageously doing the right thing.. I'm frustrated for her that she's lost work and money. That should never happen. But as she says, so much in our society is subject to the fear culture. This whole 'trans' issue has shockingly uncovered the actual level of misogyny , or at least lack of support for born females that's still operating in society.

  7. I appreciated Ella Whelan's closing views on the re-gendering malarky. A "mess" and "mad". People can, and often do whatever they like with their own bodies. Go for it! Have fun! Enjoy! But please don't try and brainwash me into thinking it's ok to share the same opinions or facilities with unknown re-gendered men, that I should ignore facts and settled science, nor that I should use words that are derogatory to me as a woman (who's very happy to have been born a woman). Thing is, as we've seen consistently via the media, men wanting to be women don't seem to actually want to be women. They actually seem to want to colonise and dominate yet another 'uncharted territory'.

  12. Quite a while ago lesbian and gay equality was genuinely achieved. They needed to find additional causes to maintain their income and power. So they turned their attention to people who are doubtful about their sex and/or gender and expanded the work in that area. It's a much more problematic and complex area of human experience. New and apparently ever more contentious hypotheses came along in the wake of the need for 'conquering new territories'.

This is what happens when police don't investigate actual (as opposed to virtual) crime and protect victims: victims's injuries are compounded by their dismissiveness and the dismissiveness of other agencies which always take sides with the police. Victims become subject to secondary victimisation and further crimes, their mental and physical health seriously suffers, they can lose their jobs, even their homes. Guess where that all leads? Simple: huge calls on the NHS and ancillary agencies, commensurate calls on the benefits system. And not only for victims: their families and friends become equally traumatised at the horrors of continual failures from public services and the sheer stress of supporting their traumatised relative. They too can find themselves in need of medical and other help. Thus, in the end, whether the police have 'resources' or not, resources have to be found from somewhere. This can cost £hundreds of thousands per victim over the years that they will need support and treatment for their criminal injuries compounded by brutal police failures. So, there needs to be a very serious debate about the failure of our police. Are we ok with this appalling state of affairs? Remember that only 6% of all recorded crimes ever get 'solved' or prosecuted - whilst millions of victims continue to suffer.

  16. Studies have shown that if you isolate any person for only 21 days their mental health begins to break down quickly. I'm probably old enough to be this young woman's mother and I find her thinking retrogressive, a sort of harking back to gungho, stiff upper lip and buck up, feelings aren't important! I've been in the laptop demographic since the late 90s so I'm more than used to being a self motivator, working alone and with colleagues via the internet/phone - interspersed by meetings all over the country and the world. But lockdowns were crushing for me - we didn't have any choice to just pop anywhere. It was legal imprisonment (no matter how valid the reasons) compounded by constant and deliberate gov and media terrorisation. I am sure that this same isolation fragility is what a very large section of the population experiences anyway because they're older and /or disabled. It seems to me that younger people have had an advance taste of exactly that as a result of lockdowns and restrictions - and now many are suffering those effects that are in normal times (in the case of seniors and disabled people) brushed aside and forgotten by the rest of society. I found Ms Strimple's opinions to be simplistic, narrowly-focused and superficial. Isolation is always an injury, an abuse to our bodies and our minds, no matter what age.

  18.  @debrapurvis4408  I'm proud of your daughter too! The other day, I had a conversation with my son about what he'll do if his little son is exposed to this ideology at school in a couple years. The cleaned up version of his response can be summarised as 'Over my dead body!". He's a local politician - so he knows ordinary people just don't want this malarkey infesting their children's minds.

  20.  @hittitecharioteer  IMHO 'feminism' had far less to do with women's emancipation and much more to do with flooding the job market with new workers undercutting men's wages and increasing gvt income tax opportunities. There are many quite occluded areas in which women still don't enjoy equality. Some of those hidden inequalities probably impact on perhaps many of the workplace problems. I am an adult HF. I know whereof I write!

  24. A 4th g-grandfather of mine was a teacher in the Far North of Scotland. In the early 1800s, he taught three foreign languages, English, Latin, Greek, the Classics, and the whole curriculum of maths, sciences, literature, history, geography, scripture etc. In a two roomed schoolhouse, in one of the most remote areas in the British Isles. To tenant crofters' children from age 5 to, if they were very lucky, 14-15. It enabled his pupils and his children to rise out of poverty and achieve amongst national and international society. Some of his descendants reached headteacher status in Scotland and much further afield. One of my children is the 8th in an unbroken line of teachers. Underlining Marie Kawthar Daoud's contention that a deeper knowledge of what there is to learn profoundly empowers and enables people, and makes them world citizens.

Speaking as a woman of mature years (who actually likes men, real men who deserve plaudits for fulfilling and excelling in the roles biology conferred on them), I can say that misogyny has never been eradicated. It just went very covert for a few decades. I could write a book about all the ways in which women are discriminated against still. Thing is, there is little on the planet now that men (especially low-skilled and untalented men) can conquer and colonise, so these men are again trying to colonise womanhood - very overtly this time by 'becoming women' and redefining what a woman is, so that women can no longer be themselves with a distinct and irreplaceable role in the world. Men have always sought to define women. The tactics today are the same as ever : subdue and silence by legal force and/or brutal violence. Then rule by same. IMHO, what we're seeing in Bristol or wherever, is a 21st century version of the vicious and bloody protests and riots led by low-skilled, low-educated, cowardly men against women's rights and equality in the early 20th century. Thank you for speaking out against this latest manifestation of misogyny. You're men worthy of the designation!!

(I remember the B/W Minstrels well, never liked them simply because I really never liked vaudeville type entertainment although I couldn't have identified and explained my dislike as a child.   34. Well done Robert! You outdid them. My take is that it's most often rather an intelligent thing to do to opt out of production line 'education'. There are many, many examples of those who've succeeded in creating productive and happy lives under their own steam. Some have even become world leaders. (I post my considered opinions here as a former educator in senior positions.).

It's absolutely the case that a certain faction under the umbrella of 'wokeism', have been inflicting themselves on the general populace over too many years now. Media pundits spend vast swathes of airtime, column inches on pandering to this self-important, self-aggrandising faction. Meanwhile, in the UK, 1 in 3 children are now living in families at the poverty level. 1 in 4 children is abused. Millions of families have to resort to foodbanks. There are millions of vulnerable people in the UK (young, old, disabled, veterans etc) who are in serious need of support, medical and social care because of decreasing funding. Yet where is the media's attention...? Not on these real issues and improving the lives of many. Ditto the UK's attention to overseas developments. Have you seen the NATO HR diversity video that's going the rounds? 2 mins of warm fuzzies. It looks like NATO has transformed itself into a cosy, cuddly global social services outfit. The West has been so wrapped up in idiot minutiae raised by people who do have the health, strength and money to make loud and long complaints that it's failed to read what's been going on in the rest of the world's room. (No idea who those people you named are). There are very, very few women who'd take kindly to being groped by an unknown man. That negative response is an instinctive part of being a woman, for all sorts of biological, physical, psychological and social reasons. So there's a fundamental divergence right there.
