Richard Haier: 'In everyday life are some people more conscious than others?...Are those the people we might label as more intelligent?' WOW! You mean that there really might be NPCs wandering around? Or Zombies even? (It's always seemed like it to me, even way before we found those labels...)

@andrew8212 So very well said. I'm sad to hear you felt like a failure. Quite obviously, you aren't: you made it to the top! Not your failure that your thinking was deformed by a culture deformed by its insatiable desire for power and money. Your stellar multinational company career was merely your apprenticeship! Congratulations on finding your metier! I used to think I was hard done by: parents who were completely uninterested in their children's futures. Had to find my own way, set my own goals, follow my own interests and passions without externally imposed limits or expectations. I've had a fascinating portfolio career, it's taken me all over the world, I've met and worked with fascinating and really top people, earnt a lot of money - though it was all very daunting in the early years. I guess what we're both indicating is that there are no 'right ways'. But you have to find your dream and follow it because it's your life, no one else's.
