@-Rook- Yup, it's lunacy. Carrie helped.

Why should any of us peons pay for decades of monumental gov mistakes and deliberate mal planning.

@ianhill4585 The very long list....

@ianhill4585 Oooo! With the culprits faces? I should enjoy that so much more! 🤣

@languagetruthandlogic3556 No.

@languagetruthandlogic3556 Oh, I don't know...Maybe because we've ditched the value of logic, proof and direct experience and clear reportage of the truth for word salad phantasies, virtue signalling and profit...? If renewable energy was able to run an advanced society, it would be highly profitably doing it by now!

Thank you for that, Elizabeth. I've lived in rural areas for 12 years now. I'm very familiar with 'country life'. Including brown outs. I have an induction stove which I love because it's quick, clean and efficient. I do a lot of cooking. Here's the thing....this last couple of weeks there have been periods when things have not heated/cooked at their normal high speed and intensity. In fact, my first thought was 'brown out'. Yesterday's announcement of power cuts made perfect sense in this context. In other words, they've already started rationing power without telling us. This tells me that our situation is much worse than they're letting on.

@elizabethconvey3242 Forgive my tardiness in thanking you for your very informative response. I'm waiting for a reply from my power co about the possibility of unannounced brown outs. Meanwhile, I'm looking into hay boxes and other means of cooking. You gave me and all of us here a great intro to hay box style cooking! We really do have to look for cheaper, sustainable alternatives now...

@languagetruthandlogic3556 :goodvibes: Indeed, though education, along with its product, critical analysis, are circling the drain now. That's an even bigger debacle, IMHO!

@elizabethconvey3242 Ah, thank you Elizabeth, good to know that my senses were on point. Dinner tonight was a slow affair. I'm even more persuaded given that I also live in the WP area where you've noticed power flux too. Tell me, do they charge the same for brown-out power? I am a complete ignoramus wrt to electricity. But if we're getting less power then shouldn't we pay less per Kw/hr?

@chriscodes1 Hear hear!

Because no government in the last 50 years has wanted to grasp the painful nettle of practicalities v. rabid eco warriors and virtue signallers. They sidestepped the problem and became virtue signallers and net zero fantasists.

Yes, this is all going to get unimaginably worse.

I've had that foil reflector stuff behind all my radiators for the last 6 years. I'm not sure that it actually does make much difference. At least, not going by bills.

It would have made very good sense some 30 years ago to legislate that every new build was constructed with a full complement of solar panels. Volume would have brought down manufacturing costs. In fact I did ask an eco-specialist about this years ago. He said that the oil and gas companies would have been furious to have their markets cut....

@retroclickmedia4422 Exactly so. It was an appalling class divide. Making the well off comfy and making those at the coal face and the margins take endless risks. They should have got danger money.

What if...what if.... 'net zero' is all just a scam to rake in more tax money because the treasury's coffers have been running low for a long while?

50% in fuel poverty??? WTF. We really have become a 3rd world country....
