Peter! Excellent conclusion to a brilliant series. Thank you very much. Our UK nations' accomplishments are great. It would be wonderful if we were allowed to remember that and thus face the future with confidence in those accomplishments , enlightened by our learning from our missteps, rather than feeling degraded and guilty. It would also be great to share the knowledge and confidence in those accomplishments with new Britons too. There's much unity in shared appreciation....

@dougspray7160 What do you think of the idea that we should actively turn that knowledge and reflection into actually, practically righting the wrongs of today by putting far more effort into the stopping the slave trading that continues to take the lives of many millions of people all over the developing world as we speak? The Global Slavery Index has all the details. In 2016 there were 40.3 million enslaved people in the world. It's horrendous, despicable.

I share your disillusionment too and could write at length about English institutional abuse. From that I know that most of the debasing and trashing has been fomented by ind! genous Brits. Zealously being right on to gain favour in their 'modern' circles... Sorry about the occluded language here. You know why.
