@purpuradraco3747 Having worked with and for several major charities, I can certainly vouch for all you say. I became so disturbed by various attitudes and activities that I now only contribute goods to my local Food Bank because I know that they will actually be directly distributed to those who need them. (Though I'm even sceptical about how the foodbank industry is supporting the gvt to minimise wages and benefits in addition to enabling big food retailers to qualify for substantial tax rebates on the back of their 'donations'.)

@VI-rt7sh They're certainly employing the same bait and switch tactics.

@carolramsey8457 Precisely. Charities are essentially co-dependent in nature and engender co-dependency. They need a continuous churn of new beneficiaries. They are an intrinsic part of any gvt's scheme to minimise spending (public services, benefits, wage rises etc etc) and are rewarded in a number of ways. International charities are part of any gvt's efforts to maintain their influence in various regions. I also think there are other core issues in Africa that are never addressed.

@purpuradraco3747 Recently I read that, anyway despite all the tax breaks, British supermarkets dump £70million worth of unsold food every year. They are not genuinely charitable. As you say, just about every observant person who's left the charity industry can credibly talk about the same disillusion and disappointment with the whole con.

@whatwhat678 I was an FE teacher during that time. It made teaching into a minefield. The fear was palpable. The ignorance monumental.
