I seem to remember that he wasn't speaking to Diana for several months before her death. Some friend, eh? What on earth did Megsy think he would be able to do?? Oh yes, that's it - note it in his diary so that he could dutifully verify her claims when the media calls for a quote.

  9.  @marinaknife4595  All too true! I've watched several deconstructions of The Show now. She comes across as having some reasonable measure of intelligence but her self-insight is absent and the intelligence all seems to be used in support of her self-orientated, entitled and acquisitive agenda.
