Sadly a lot of adult children have no interest in caring for the demands of ageing parents. To those that do step up everyday, I salute you!

Administration is more concerned with profits instead of a high standard of care for residents.
11
Hahaha! A good sense of humour is wonderful at any age!

I second everything you have said. I worked in Aged care many years ago, we had patients wearing other patients underwear, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Too many privately run homes, where the only focus is on profits, not excellent patient care. It’s shameful. The food is particularly bad quality. It’s a disgraceful way to treat our senior citizens.

 @ElderlyLove agree totally, this video is anxiety provoking and quite frankly scare mongering. It’s not the years in our life, it’s the life in our years that counts.

 @matsiesmith2425 💯

See a doctor, don’t consult YouTube narcissists with no medical training.

 @upkhalidazahid2510 not all of us have children, and some of those that do, have kids that are only interested in the will and the inheritance, putting mom and dad in a home in the blink of an eye.

 @amandacarter7740 I had to cut ties with my elderly mother, some parents are toxic.
4
Please keep in mind that your loved ones can also be at risk from other nursing home residents. For example, aggressive violent old men, one of whom attempted to strangle a nursing sister. If this can happen to staff, residents are also vulnerable. Nursing homes are often an unsafe workplace.

This story warms my heart

 @lindatrollinger7911 exactly, there is now elder abuse happening, sadly.
3
 @thehappysheep2023 I’m so glad that there are people here with actual experience of working in homes, the horrors are daily, sadly.

 @WiseAdvice93 you are so welcome! 💕

Live and respect is earnt, elderly or not.,

 @leelafarlett3535 yes, I did. I worked at a small 20 bed home for a couple of years. Terrible food Showering and dressing patients then sitting them in front of the TV, how boring There is no time on a shift to sit and chat to residents, so I made Time before or after work to sit and talk to the residents, most of whom got no visitors, ever. Attention and love is what they need most.

 @pmeehan_3 you make a very good point. Some parents are deadbeats and many children are estranged from their parents, such as myself. These types of parents do not deserve support in old age, because they weren’t good parents decades before.
2
@ it is a truthful fact. Sorry you have trouble with the fact that some parents do not deserve to be taken care of in old age. Why is a truthful comment unnecessary to you? If you have great parents, good for you, but be ware that this is not everyone’s experience.please apologise to senior male.

 @rogeronthesouthfork175 these comments are not given to scare anyone or be cruel to anyone. You have misunderstood, my dear. Sadly a lot of facilities are very bad, which is why research must be done to find the best quality suitable choice. How is this cruel?

 @WiseAdvice93 Agree with all you have said here. No one wants to go to a home, it’s the wish of all of us to live independently for as long as possible. But if it’s not possible, seniors deserve dignified care, and the same varied nutritious diet that we all enjoy. The government in my country encourages seniors to remain at home as long as possible, with home care packages to provide the assistance and services they require, such as delivered meals, housekeeping, gardening, as well as nursing visits etc. thank you for addressing this very important issue, as a society we are living longer than ever. It’s all about quality of life right to the end. 💕

 @catherinewindsor1654 very well said

 @ghound-md5ey it’s a fact in Todays society that some families don’t care, they are quick to dump parents in homes, and you also need to be aware of elder abuse. In a perfect world we would all have caring loving families, but the truth is, a lot of elderly people are seen as an inconvenient burden. from a retired aged care nurse who calls it as she has seen it.

This list of symptoms could explain any numberof illnesses. This video is carefully orchestrated scare mongering , designed to put fear into vulnerable people. If frightening people is what you need to do to get YouTube views and comments, I truly pity you

@ exactly! Not everyone gets the parents they deserve.

@ very good comment. A lot of people make the assumption that we all have Brady bunch parents.

 @amandacarter7740 thank you. 💕.

 @deannacarter4251 just because someone is a parent, does not mean they have the right to treat children with no respect. While forgiveness might work for you, I call unwarranted forgiveness being a sucker. Cutting my toxic mother out of my life was the best thing , I choose to respect myself. I bent over backwards for years trying to please her, until I woke up to myself and realised I was giving and giving constantly, without any thought to my needs. Just because we share DNA, I don’t find that it excuses her behaviour. Life is good now, I’m much better off mentally and physically. Please be kind to yourself. YOU are number one in your own life. 💕

 @amandacarter7740 thank you,Amanda, I appreciate that. 💕

 @Janice-f9g agree, same here, working in one was enough to want to die before ending up in one of those miserable places.
1
@ why does the act of falling mean strokes? Are you talking about TIA’s where a person falls, and it’s quite common for a full on stroke a few days later?
1
@ agree one hundred percent

Rather die before I end up in one of those hell holes

@ congratulations! I’m glad this forum and the wealth of wisdom in the video and the comments, has helped. 💕
