  1. ​It's not practical. It will take you weeeks to transboard a 10,000 container ship from side to side and then reload it so it can retake It's route. The investment on the cranes to do it It's immense. Plus the risk of damage, loss or contamination makes it just a bad idea. The Panamá canal railroad company exists already. ​ @NandR
