What makes the Wright Brothers success even better is that, because of the airfoil TEST DATA that they amassed, by using a wind tunnel, the Wright Brothers properly understood WHY their airplane worked. Even if Langley had succeeded to fly, he never went to the trouble to produce the airfoil TEST DATA that the Wright Brothers amassed, and, as a result, Langley's wings would have been "winging" it. :body-green-covering-eyes:

  3. Comparatively, it took a long time for cars (like Ford, GM, and Chevy) to come up with 6 and 8 cylinder engines. To think that airplanes and speedboats had V8 engines, all the way back to around 1904, is amazing.
