Please explain this...
Back during the first half of the 1980s, the price of diesel was always much lower than the price of gasoline (...by anywhere from 30 to 40 cents, per gallon.) At that time, diesel was looked upon as an alternative fuel, and the DIESEL POWERED Volkswagen Rabbit was a very popular car. Also, farm tractors were mostly diesels, because, per gallon (and owing to the high compression ratio of diesel engines), diesel produces much more power than gasoline. Since farming is historically a low profit-margin business (where smaller family farms are concerned), diesel powered tractors make a lot of sense.
So my question is...
Since the 1980s, why did diesel, per gallon, become much more expensive than gasoline? My guess is that the price of diesel was deliberately manipulated, for 25 years, across the entire energy industry. Somebody should do a "deep dive" investigation into this matter.
