  1. Reportedly, the Soviets have an automated Nuclear Response called Dead Hand. If it detects an enormous explosion in the Upper Atmosphere, Dead Hand (based in the former Soviet Union) will automatically launch a nuclear counter strike, against the entire world.

  2. Don’t ask me why, but I think Planet Earth is blessed with the presence of UFO Aliens who love this planet, SO much, that they would never let a Killer Asteroid harm us. In fact, if a Killer Asteroid ever did target the Earth, UFO Aliens would probably spring into action and dispatch said Asteroid, toute de suite!

Reminds me of the old Johnny Carson joke from the 1970s… [JC]: Scientists just recently announced that the safest place to stand during an Earth-shaking cataclysm is inside the frame of an open doorway. Scary thought, isn’t it, to think that the only people who will survive to restart the Human Race will be Jehovah’s Witnesses and Avon Ladies?
