  1. One of the reasons why the USA imports oil is because crude oil has to be matched with an appropriate oil refinery. In many cases, the USA imports oil simply because the USA has the right type of oil refineries to match with foreign oil.

  2. In the USA, EVs would readily increase their popularity IF you could eliminate the need to charge the battery. This would be the case if EV batteries were based upon Aluminum/Air technology. In test vehicles, such batteries have demonstrated a range of 1300 miles. Whenever the battery needs recharging, this is accomplished by replacing the Aluminum metal plates. Occasionally, the Aluminum Hydroxide electrolyte solution would need replacing. Such batteries would be augmented by the USA’s pre-existing Aluminum recycling infrastructure.
