Maybe they should campaign on enshrining the Military Covenant in law?

@seanm5092 Every time a Conservative govt cuts the armed forces, decommissioned warships, freezes public sector pay, goes back on pledges I hear people saying "Labour would've made it worse!" To prove it they mention Corbyn or some other MP as though that alone proves it. Do you actually knnow Labour's defence policy? Since 2010 there's been a real terms pay cut for a lot of armed forced personnel.

It's less troops. Pure and simple.

That's just nonsense. I'd suggest you do some research on the matter but you'd probably only see things that back up your opinions.

I bet you've been complaining about the 2003 invasion of Iraq for years.

Except they've been happily cutting since 2010. Go look at the SDR 2010, SDR 2015. Wonder how the Royal Navy was left withot aircraft carriers for almost ten years from 2011? I think it was a Conservative govt that tried to sell a carrier just before the Falklands conflict, go look that up for me please.

@1chish Capability is great if you possess it and your opponent hasn't enjoyed a massive head start. For all other conflicts troop numbers still matter right now.

Electronic emissions on the battlefield spell death against a modern foe. Especially if that modern foe invested billions in high tech years ago and you're only investiong millions now.

@1chish Literally less than ten years ago the UK were left with NO carriers for the first time for decades and whose decision was that? Sheesh.
2
@1chish No one's trolling you; try to be less self-important. Also, read what others say. You might learn something. If you disagree that the Conservatives left the RN without any aircraft carriers then say so.

@aaronb2779 Dig into the numbers, a lot of it is filling in the black holes of MOD spending. You can chose to believe the promises of increased spending but you'd be foolish to do so.

@1chish Forget Starmer, forget Labour concentrate on what this government is doing and whether the experts think it's good.

@jamieanderson3475 Investment was needed years ago. The UK is playing catch up as it's years and billions behind and Johnson claims it's going to surpass it's adversaries? Meanwhile, many of the forces we actually possess will be cut. Let's hope we don't need them for 10 years. Not my ideas - the ideas of experts.

Gareth Cooke Why was the limit not reached? The army will be smaller, saying people aren't getting made redundant is deflection.
