Pretty soon all we'll be able to afford is an "apartment" that looks like a bed in a sleeping car (on a train). We won't even have our own bathroom. Every night it'll feel like you're going to sleep in a coffin.

@Mocha. quite right! rich people with millions or hundreds of millions have expensive accountants & lawyers to grease the gears of the system. their assets are hidden in trusts & foreign accounts.

Renting USED to have advantages over owning because the payment was much lower and it was temporary. Now, I'm paying more in rent than my mortgage was just a few years ago AND you can't find a place to rent without an iron-clad 1-year lease. I've even heard of 2-year leases. Liberals have succeeded in destroying almost every facet of western economies.
