Why should other low payed and pensioners suffer? It this selfish lot stopped grabbing, there would be room to reduce tax for everybody's benefit.

  25. The NHS can't be fixed with money. NHS staff are the modern day equivalent of Miners (I was one) most being lazy greedy and overpaid. Lack of adequate control has brought about a general lack of discipline and morale. Starmer will never fix it with his idea of paying for more staff (it already has too many) The existing people need to be made to do their jobs better.

  32. Firstly, yes I am a floating Voter. I use my brain to decide who will do the best for me and the country, unlike some people who are tied by dogma and bias to one party. Anyone with at least half a brain can see that the EU is near to collapse. Italy will soon crash and bring the rest of the EU with it. Brexit has given me piece of mind.

  34. Immigrants need the food the same as anybody else, and we have a better organisation for feeding them. If the homeless all pretended to be immigrants they'd all get fed.

  35. When the people at the bottom get a pay rise, it increases the pay of everyone in the organisation. It will then spiral to other strong unions leaving some people very poor. Seeking a pay rise now is detrimental to the fortunes of this country. The Unions are only doing it to oust the Tory Party, union leaders having massive salaries themselves. I was a Coal Miner and we did it in the 70's and 80's, and yes there were a few lower paid people but we squeezed the system until we had money beyond our dreams but it destroyed the economy and the government were forced to act. The government know whats coming this time, and are prepared to prevent wage rises at all costs, and even bring about the destruction of those industries. Scargill did not ruin the industry, the miners did. Scargill was demonized by the Tories but we greedy miners pushed on ahead with the strike. Thatcher had no option but to crush the industry that was draining the country of its lifeblood. The country now is in a much more dire situation, so agreeing to pay rises would be like the country cutting its own throat. Whichever party is in power must have the courage to stand firm whatever the consequences. And they will.

Steel, NHS, Education, Transport, BBC were all inflicted with the same malaise. Even after privatization it was the same staff with the same attitudes that spoiled the industries. Now we see greed rearing its ugly head again in those industries with staff numbers large enough to put pressure on an already stretched economy. How strange that these industries are the ones that are, or once were, nationalized. So it wasn't really Thatcher's fault, it was something that had to be done, and she had the guts to carry it through. Lets hope Truss has the same courage
