  1. I have a 1001-0 (East German Walther PP clone), and its grips are the same sort of thing. The gun's well-made and looks just like a PP, apart from its almost complete lack of markings, but the grip panels are just slabs of indifferently finished wood. No checkering, no borders, no maker's mark of any kind... just a couple pieces of wood. They don't even look like they came from the same kind of tree. Evidently the workers' and peasants' pistol factory had better things to do. :)
