  1. When I was in high school, my dad bought a 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that turned out to be a counterfeit built on a regular '60 GTO. Same kind of thing. As an aside, semi-relevant to the original video topic, I recently "de-sporterized" an '03 Springfield deer rifle back to the original M1903A3 spec, more or less just to do it. It's not meant to fool anyone into thinking it's original, I used a very obviously new stock from the CMP, but it seems to have more dignity that way. :)

  2. Sure, heck, they kept making 03A3 and 03A4 rifles well into the war. My 03A3 was made in April of 1942. My grandfather acquired it sometime in the '50s, when he was a member of the Army Reserve rifle team. I think they were shooting Garands in competition by then, but they still had Springfields around even then.

  3. I like the way Simpson Ltd. do their import marks: discreetly, in tiiiiny print, usually someplace that isn't hidden but isn't glaringly obvious either.
