I grew up in hurricane and earthquake countries. UK houses have no reinforcing steel in the walls, door spans, 1st floor beam, window span, roof wall interface whatsoever apart from maybe the foundation. That is why winds that would not qualify as a hurricane would blow over a whole wall as shown in this video.

@Dogfacedbloke Did you actually read what I wrote? I grew up and lived my early adult years in hurricane country. If we built our houses like they do here in the UK they would fall over the at the first category 1 hurricane that passes. Hurricane season is 4 months of the year. We would never get away with this brick sitting on top of brick from foundation to roof that we build in the UK.
