@Mr.Septon yeah but what about the treaties which Russia signed that forbid it from taking control over Crimea . Shouldn't these be upheld regardless of the populations demands
1
@Mr.Septon the Kharkiv pact was signed in 2014 . Why shouldn't treaties be respected over the opinions of people . Not to mention allowing the violation of a treaty sets a bad example . Also whats so bad about living in a country you don't like living in . Boo hoo muh nation .

@Mr.Septon yeah but what is so awful living on a country you don't like . If tomorrow Ukraine took back Crimea what would be so awful for the locals . Not to mention you can't just let a country violate 3 different treaties like that . Also majority of successful seccesion have been done with respect to the parent countries laws and with Crimea Ukrainian law was ignored . Doesn't Ukrainie have the right to enforce those laws regardless of Crimean peoples opinions. Imo there is nothing wrong with living in a country you don't like unless it explicitly discriminates against for things that are unfair (sexuality, gender , race , ethnicity, class , personal choice in private life ) if these types of discrimination aren't common by representatives of the law then seccesion is either just nationalism for the masses or people not respecting the institutions of a state and seeking better material conditions or both. If people are forced to live in states that they don't like and they aren't victims explicit discrimination as stated above then the fact they don't like a state is the problem of the people and not the state . The right to self determination was a right created for people in pursuit of freedom from oppression not for a hit of nationalism and increasing income .
