@maelstrom254 except if you take into account constitutionality . Both of them were a part of Georgia in 1992 . You can't just declare independence in the modern age . Also Georgian independence didn't mean russians executed in the streets unlike ossetian and abkhaz independence. Russia should give up chechnya if it cares sooo much about minorities rights to independence

Fihlippe Luhis we had the right to protect our borders . Russia went into chechnya for litterally the same reasons

@maelstrom254 recognised by Russia only . They're parts of Georgia and the displaced Georgians have a day too

Fihlippe Luhis ossetians weren't being genocided . More Georgians have died than ossetians . By your logic Csa, Isis, Islamic Emirate of the Caucasus , boko Hiram, etc are legitimate nations
3
Fihlippe Luhis if you say that ossetians have a right to a state on the basis of them being the majority on a defined territory the same logic applies to Isis

@dwarow2508 in 1994 yeltisn officially told the army to "restore constitutional order in chechnya" and began the invasion. Terrorists came after. Which UN law ? Article 6 of the in charter says that a state may not use separatism against another state

Fihlippe Luhis constitutionality still more important .

@dwarow2508 combined since 1992 2k abkhazians and ossetians have died . In abkhazia alone 5k Georgian civilians were killed . It wasn't occupation since abkhazian was and is an official language under georgian law and Georgians were the majority in abkhazia. Read un charter article 6. No minorties can't just declare independence whenever they want .

@dwarow2508 self determination only applies in under conditions of either colonialism or genocide . Chechen constitution durring dudeyv declared that it was a secular republic . I'm talking about the first Chechen war
