@darthbigred22 knocking out a satellite is an extremely risky move since the debris can hit their own stuff and potentially ground Humanity for centuries

USA would most likely evacuate the staff of the foundries , bomb the factories and burn/destroy all important documents which can't be taken home

But russians and Chinese are also friends

@alexchopov that was due to pilot error and hubris than a faluire of the tech

As a georgian i think putting georgia as a russian ally is incorrect

PPP is mostly only useful for everyday goods

@alexchopov Big Mac isn't a complex good China has 2 carriers neither one of which are qualitatively better than the American ones . They cost about 9 billion USD .They are building one more not for that much cheaper than the USA is considering the quality (also you need to take into account how bloated the us defence spending is with contractors often jacking up the price ) Big Mac in Zurich will cost more because people have more money there and salaries are higher . Not because the cost of the actual ingredients of it are that much different. Complex goods such as CPUs or precise machinery cost a lot because they need highly skilled experts whose pay is naturally very high regardless of country . They also often times need expensive licences , lots of electricity and special facilities . These too are naturally very high in price regardless of country . Because of these and many other factors the cost of manufacturing something like a graphics card will more or less similar in most countries with the same infrastructure and expertise

@alexchopov electricity in Zurich isn't that much more expensive . In Russia its 0.160 USD (although it does vairy by region) and in Zurich its 0.226 . It's substantial but not that major . Hi tech goods require very specialised labour . You can't just grab some grocery store worker . Thus the salaries of these people aren't determined by the cost of living but rather demand because of which their salaries are going to be high regardless of country . Construction of facilities also takes a lot of highly specialised experts too . Lower taxes means lower governmental spending , while yes in fact lower taxes often times do lower costs since (at least in a well run government ) state budget is added back into GDP its effect isn't tangible . Although lower taxes can have an effect on growth and development , both negative and positive. The j-20 costs 100 million USD and again the high cost of military hardware in the United States is more of a political issue than economic one . PPP is useful for everyday goods such as clothing, food , rent etc as these things are more yes dependant on the local cost of living . The avrage wage in the USA is 3000 USD while in Russia its like 600-700 USD because of this renters in USA can charge relatively higher rates while they have to charge lower rates in Russia .there is a good reason that international treade is measured in nominal

@alexchopov again different by region but still electricity is just one of the factors it can't make a product that much cheaper to make . Factors such highly skilled labour , facilities and licenses are still expensive regardless of country. The American budget is bloated because of relatively low competition and lobbying not because it's actually that much more expensive to manufacture . Also you have consider the experience gap . USA has more experience with stealth aircraft than china thus their planes are going to more developed. If the tax rate is 2% instead of 20% the government only gets 2 USD added to the budget instead of 20 USD added . Because of this the government may only build 10 km of road instead of 100km. You can't just lower your taxes to increase GDP because the spending that goes up on the costumer side goes down on the governmental side. There is a reason that trade is measured in nominal Coal isn't mined by highly specialised or skilled workers and isn't a complex good since the cost of mining it is dependent on local cost of living. Also more advanced economies use better methods of extracting coal and they use more coal . Not to mention it can be used by consumers relatively easily for purposes like heating and coal often makes into consumer goods since its used in manufacturing too
1
@alexchopov outsourcing means that they are paid for by a western company. Sure yes in Moscow 15k will get you more consumer goods and this actually the correct application of GDP PPP but this doesn't change the fact that PPP fails to model the costs of complex goods because of the factors that I have mentioned . Yes it is true that materially you will live a better life living on 15k a year in Russia than 20k a year in Switzerland but on a large scale it doesn't accurately model the cost of hi tech goods. Texas and California still both have high GDP per capita (nominal and ppp) and they're both part of the same country so their budgets are also helped out by other states . Also the revenue in Texas is also gained from other sources .

@alexchopov su-57 costs around 100 million dollars and despite the lower cost Russia hasn't been able to manufacture on mass. You also have take into account the experience gap between USA and china . The USA has been building stealth aircraft since the late 80s and they are battle tested . China only recently began making them . Also the us budget is bloated not because of economic issues . No advanced economy in the world is "self-sufficient". Suptnik V is made in a different manner than moderna and also all vaccines are subsidized by states .
