If you're going to use Gorge Hewitt you do have to account for his relationship with Abkhazia , there is a significant conflict of interest

@SoslanOss name me a single Ossetian king or hell even a single Ossetian village in the area during the kingdom of Georgia?

@Game_Hero Dude has an Abkhaz wife , medals from the government of Abkhazia and openly denies the ethnic cleansing of Georgians which happened in the 90ies It's like citing Karajic about the war in Bosnia
5
@Game_Hero no one denies Ossetians existed as a nation , they just don't own any land South of the Greater Caucasus mountain range

@chekhososlanian1942 have you seen a single comment in which a Georgian argues for a person to have their rights voided on the basis of ethnicity?
2
@filipsykora9506 not really, majority of fighters on the Abkaz side were Russians and North Caucasians
2
South Ossetia didn't wish to reunify with North Ossetia as at no point in time and history has there ever been an united Ossetia

I didn't know Russia existed in the 11th century?
1
@vulpes7079 Because Ossetians didn't settle that territory until the 1600s , majority of Ossetians settled that territory during the 19th century Historically Tskhinvali was primarily inhabited by Georgians and Jews

@filipsykora9506 HRW 1995 report Although no specific numbers are cited , it does point out that majority of fighters were not locals Also various statements by Abkhaz politicians

@filipsykora9506 many members of the Bagramian Battalion weren't local Armenians but volunteers from Armenia Many Cossacks fought in Abkhazia as well . The wiki for the Bagramyan battalion states that it was made up of 1500 fighters which composed a quarter of the army , but the source it links to is no longer available , that would suggest the local Abkhaz army to have been in total 6000 men strong. another issue I guess would be how Russian troops are counted since Russia de facto sided with Abkhazia but de jure maintained a neutral position
