@gusgone4527 so where is the free chechnya then ? Ukrainian borders matter more than russian people . Same goes for russian borders and Ukrainian people . Before 2014 a line was set and it was set very clearl it is Russia who is against the line for its own selfishness

@gusgone4527 look at how ww2 started, hittler took ethnic German lands from the most part before . What does the creation and changing the borders of states on the basis of ethnicity lead to ? It doesn't create freer societies , it doesn't create better countries . It often times just satisfies the fantasies of irredentists . Western European nations aren't exactly ethnically homogeneous . There are Germans in Belgium , French in Switzerland , Austrians in Italy . Yet if we apply the Crimea precedent all these places should be torn away. Only through outmost and absolute respect of defined state boundaries is it possible to achieve peace . Giving everyone their own little ethno republic serves no other purpose than to satisfy some nationalists dream. It is not the Ukrainians who are unreasonable here . They simply want what they have legally the right to . No state should have the right to change another's territory without the consent of the other state . All states have the right to defend their legal borders be it with or against the wishes of the locals . There was just as much of a moral issue with Crimeans being forced to live under an Ukrainian flag as there was with Albanians who are forced to live under a Macedonian flag . It's better in the grand scheme if Crimeans starve under an Ukrainian flag than live like kings under a russian one because allowing the changing of borders without concent gives a free hand to nationalists.
