I mean what would you say if tomorrow China attacked Russia because of Chechnya , how was that any different ? 2. USA started Cuban missile crisis after the Soviet Union actually sneaked Nukes into Cuba , there were exactly 0 American missiles in Ukraine prior to 2022 3.the ones from America can't be intercepted either. it's very hard to intercept an ICBM. even still , being a part of NATO doesn't mean you host NUKES , only Italy ,Belgium , Western part of Germany and the Netherlands host American Nukes. Russia doesn't want NATO on its borders for the same reason a thief doesn't want for you to get a guard dog.
