@maxbounce 1. "The presence of Russian volunteer soldiers is not equal to the presence of the regular Russian army" I mean you can check out the vice documentary where it is pretty clear many members of the Russian army were fighting in the Donbass , this is different from an American civilians going as a volunteer to Ukraine. Also , really ? do you think I am stupid ? where the hell would the LDPR milita's between Ukraine and Russia have gotten the needed supplies to wage the war from ? not to mention point 10 of MINSK 2 was "Pullout of all foreign armed formations, military equipment, and also mercenaries from the territory of Ukraine under OSCE supervision. Disarmament of all illegal groups." . Khodakovsky openly stated that Russian forces had saved the Separatists
2. Yes they did , for Russia Chechen secession was unacceptable so why is Crimean secession acceptable ? only difference between those 2 was 1 didn't benefit Russia and the other did. Ukraine doesn't have a federal government , it's not a federation , it's an unitary state. Ukraine didn't violate the constitution as the Rada technically had the right to declare Yanukovich unfit to rule
3. Ukraine for the most part is far less guilty of voiding the Minsk agreement. Minsk 2 was signed on February 12th 2015 , on February 15th 2015 a ceasefire was supposed to come into effect , on February 18th 2015 LDPR forces took over the town Debaltsevo in violation of the ceasefire. Ukraine until 2021 was barred from buying German arms , until 2019 from American arms (keep in mind USA wasn't a part of MINSK) , France even quite famously cancelled multiple orders of ships to Ukraine (which had been made prior to 2014) and still continued to sell thermal and night vision to the Russian army until 2022. Ukraine still implemented much more of the agreement than LDPR did (for instance even passing the law on autonomy)
4. Merkel was part of the "change through trade" movement , she was quite clear on her position at the time that if the west simply just worked with Russia and more or less appeased Russia , Russia would reform itself into a liberal democracy. Merkel's statements about MINSK came in December of 2022 , after the Ukrainian victories. She was just trying to save face because anyone with a decent enough understanding of this conflict can easily say she was played like a fool by Putin and she left Ukraine basically on its own
