@HHHPPP8 firstly they illegally declared independence which could be considered an act of war and secondly georgia isn't just kartl-kakheti whenever georgia has been an unified nation Abkhazia has been a part of it . It was part of Colchis. It was a part of lazika part of the kingdom of georgia it was part of iberia it was a part of the 1918 republic it was a part of imereti for a bit.

@HHHPPP8 durring the referendum about the ussr becoming a federal state Georgians voted to leave . That referendum was authorized by Moscow making georgian independence completely legal

@HHHPPP8 the formation of georgia was legal tho by you logic so is Russia an illegal state and doesn't have any authority . The fact of the matter after the central referendum georgia had the permission of Moscow to declare independence . If say that move was ilegal than every post soviet country is ilegal

@HHHPPP8 Abkhazia declared independence from georgia not the ussr south Ossetia declared it within the ussr not as a sperate state actual decelerations of independence were post ussr and from georgia which makes their moves ilegal as they needed georgian permission or an un mandate they had neither only thing the in mandated there was peacekeepers not independence . Under international law of the time Abkhazia was considered georgian territories and people there had to abide by the georgian Constitution of 1921 which said that all changes to georgian territories must be done with a bilateral agreement with the georgian government . If we follow your logic so is chechnya a legitimate state Dagestan and Circassia . Georgia had the right to do this because it had the go ahead from the central government because of the referendum regarding the federative soviet states in which georgia voted to leave and was given the right to do so

@HHHPPP8 also Abkhazia had no international recognition up until 2008 26th of August officially according to every in member state up until than Abkhazia didn't exist as a state and was a part of georgia . Same for south Ossetia

@HHHPPP8 in 1921 there was no Abkhazian government . also to this day the UN supports georgia . Also technically the current Georgian government is the 1918 republic and so georgia technically didn't gain independence from the ussr they were occupied by it but even then georgia didn't separate . Also in 1921 Abkhazia was a part of georgia we even fought Bolsheviks there
