In tskhinvali Georgian forces did manage to captue 90% of the city but outside of that major fighting didn occur as the central government told forces to withdraw to Tbilisi

In Crimea half the force present there defected to the Russian army . And local support guaranteed that there wouldn't be incurgencies.

Why did the russian air defences fail in Syria and karabakh
1
No that doesn't mean that . It means that the avrage russian day to day has to spend less for products . Stuff such as computers , advanced machinery , quality cars and what not would cost the same . USA has managed to get thousands Abrams while Russia has gotten very little t-14s
1
So taking a region where half the forces straight up defects to and winning a war against a country 1/50th your size means Russia is an efficient military power

@TheKrauzerII in Crimea half of the forces present there defected to Russia . Mainly because they knew the Russians had better wages . Bribery isn't tacital and strategic brilliance nor does it reflect military competence . Hell lots of Ukrainian solders didn't even have their weapons Georgia is a very small country . Russia deployed way more men against georgia with way more armour and air support . Russia didn't win against georgia because they were better organized or trained or led or equiped they won because Kalashnikovs don't pierce tanks . Us bombing campaign in Serbia cost around 4 billion dollars but damage to Serbia was around 30 billion dollars . If accomplished its goals . Russia has had faluries too . Belasn for example or the first chechn war or the theatre crisis .
1
By second class assets you mean twice the men that georgia deployed with more tanks
1
In both places Russia had local support
1
In chechnya Russia lost the first time and other times either they had locals defect or were just fighting vastly smaller forces
1
USA in 2001 took over Afghanistan in 2 months with 10k troops and in the initial invasion lost less than 50 men . Russia fought Georgia with 40k men and including local separatist forces 170 were killed in combat . USA lost in Afghanistan because it trusted the Afghan national army (which was highly corrupt and should've dissolved rebuilt with competent people ) fundamentally that was a leadership and political falurie rather than the fault of the military
1
What about the Japanese and the poles and Finn's and Afghanis
1
Yeah but you're comparing a guerilla war to a conventional war
1
They'd also turn into rubble too in a nuclear war
1
@ItzArtiom that's only for day to day expenses if a Russian wants to buy a computer or a new car or something of that nature they will still have to pay the same price as the Americans and the Europeans

Nukes prevent war
