  1. In my home in Sacramento, California, the ground orientation indicates the outlet is switched. Several rooms, mostly bedrooms, have outlets that are controlled by a switch near the door. Those outlets are ground up. BTW, you should look into the British standard outlets and plugs. They are much safer.
