  10. Paul Watson doesn’t understand the problem. Every year fires are lit by kids, arsonists and even the mentally ill. Every year we control them. We can’t control them anymore because the climate is fighting against us. The droughts, the heat. It affects everything. It creates dry fuel Loads that turn Australia into a tinderbox. When the fires come. They are massive and out of control. We’ve known forever that purposeful and accidental lightings are rampant to help out the natural lightning strikes. But it’s not about how the fires start. It’s about how they burn mate. There are blokes who have been fighting fires for decades in this country who are in dreaded awe of these fires. They can’t even get close enough to the flames to fight because the heat is unprecedented to them. Fire trucks are melting.

It was a staggering 31.3 billion which is more than we spend on national defence and they cut it to 30.8 billion which is still more than what we spend on national defence.   15. In country towns you will find a lot of the flats are leased by companies constantly working in the vast regions surrounding it. I'm pretty experienced in regional stay away from home work and I've stayed in those flats for months at a time. It's not tourism that keeps motels and leased buildings afloat in regional towns. It's industry and infrastructure workers. A 6 month lease is cheaper than 3 months of motel stays. So the flats and apartment to lease are actually very sort after for worker accomodation cause it's more cost effective, and homely. These are for blokes and women doing 10-12 hour shifts and just coming home after a few beers and a pub feed and conking out to get up early again and go somewhere to work. So of course someone buys a tiny block of land and puts flats on it for that market.

It is disrespectful to politicise an emergency during the emergency management of an ongoing emergency. Many people involved in an emergency take this response to the emergency to give the effort the resp ct it deserves alone. It is a stance that 100% focus is on the current emergency effort. Debate is for after the emergency. Yes. Human induced climate change is obviously real. I agree. All the hysteria is because evidence suggests we are tracking for a 1.5C temp rise by 2100 unless we cut CO2 by 45% by the year 2030. And we have accelerated the CO2 levels beyond normal cycles. True. But. The bushfires were mostly caused by environmental lobbying which caused great reductions in winter bushfire management programs. The burnbacks have been reduced. The bushfire experts warned the authorities this would happen. It happened. This was the first winter that fire trails behind my home weren’t frequented by RFS and this was the first year I was evacuated under threat and a fire needed to be thought closer than ever before by a margin. Now scale that out all over Australia and calculate our available resources and you get a lot of out of control bushfires. The control is supposed to be a year round effort. Not just expecting our poor RFS to be mop up crew in what will continue to be impossible damage control missions at the last moment with the reductions in control measures in place. Australia MUST burn. But we have to deal with how it burns.
