Then how did they make it all the way up to 120 million+ people with hardly any help from immigrants to begin with? Clearly something different was happening back then that encouraged more Japanese to get together and have more children. Maybe learning a thing or two from the past could be the first step to boosting their population back up again.

Because being pro-xenophobia is actually a good thing in this case.

Well said. I think the US just wants everyone to be on the same page as them. If everyone mixes together to become very diverse culturally and ethnically they'll all have something in common and become easier to persuade. You know how that saying goes - "birds of the same feather flock together." It's so true.

I don't want Japan to turn into a second America or western Europe with their ever growing diversity and multiculturalism. Outside of my own personal life and WWIII igniting, this is the other thing that I'm greatly concerned about. I love and respect Japan so much that I am scared about it losing it's unique identity by letting boatloads of foreigners in. Biden should just keep his nose out of this and worry more about what's currently going on in his own country.

@runespar Pay people good money to partake in artificial insemination procedures. Once that the unwanted baby is born, they could be brought over to special government run child care facilities with the option of being up for adoption.

@runespar That's beautiful part. It would open up more job opportunities for child caretakers to look after them. Which is especially good at a time like this where lots of people have been losing their jobs left and right for all sorts of reasons. And if nobody wants to take them up for adoption, fine. Keep them boarded up till they're 18 after having finished HS. Then, with some guidance, let them out into the real world. But seriously, this shouldn't be something difficult to undertake. If a government could afford to look after and keep criminals in prison while putting them in special programs to ease their way back into society, then I don't see why it would be any harder to do it in a similar way with these kids.

I dislike immigration as well but only to the degree that I feel that too many are coming in. But to be fair, the US and other western countries have done a sh*t ton to make the a lot of these poor countries the way they are through war, sanctions, and overthrowing their governments by instigating coups. If we just stopped messing with them and allowed them their God given right to develop their countries I'm sure that not nearly as many would feel the need to immigrate to other safer countries with more stable economies and better opportunities.

@MikeTheGamer77 Well, since he was apparently reading other people's comments, I didn't feel it necessary to add anything extra. I would just be regurgitating what most of them are already saying.

Immigration plays a big part in globalization, which is the current economic plan that western countries want to keep pushing in order to make it successful. If a key economic global power (like Japan) doesn't want to take part in it (like letting in boatloads of immigrants just like other western countries have been doing), then it ends up hurts the global economy. Me personally, I hate globalization since the negative side effect in all of this is that it helps destroy national identity in exchange.

"But no, continue funneling money into the baby boomers that don't need it anymore instead" That's a big part of the problem. But one can that easily be solved by simply being patient and waiting them out until they all finally depart. Which would then free younger Japanese from the huge tax burden that they had to pay for their retirement. And the money saved from that could then go towards building up their families.

That's exactly what could happen and why opening the floodgates will inevitably lead to disaster which cannot be reversed.

Pretty much like selling your soul to the devil (i.e. 💰)

"You're president needs to make incentives for the Japanese to have more babies and really encourage it." They should open programs for artificial insemination with monetary incentives for willing applicants if all else fails.
