As I recall (it's been a while since I studied this and/or listened to the details) but the Muslim Leader, Saladin, that took Jerusalem was quite the strategist, well staffed in army, effective, and he had a really quick witt. (I'm referring to the time when the King of England, "Richard the Lionheart" was there.). It's a worthy read if one is interested in History and the details. BTW:. England had a way of putting themselves into any high profile Country's business. I find it odd that Richard sign a treaty/agreement for the area of Jerusalem, they had their own King.   2. BTW, ("What happened to their holdings?) "Did they turn anything, land or assets, over to the "Order of St John of Jerusalem"? as the Pope had directed. I know that "Richard the Fair" expected to get the content of their Tower (Bank) in France, but I don't think that happened.
