@bestboy007 Yes, because that little girl would get out of the car on the street side, not the pavement side. And without looking to see if there's a bicycle or car coming.

According to Not Just Bikes' videos, it's always like this. People are terrified of any solution that makes it easier to ride a bike, take collective transportation, or just use your feet.

@deezynar "Furthermore, you ARE forced into the lifestyle you have. " No, actually in the Netherlands you have the choice of riding a bike, collective transportation, or car. The Dutch just happen to build their infrastructure around all these options, not just personal motor vehicles. In large portions of Canada and the US, you're forced to own and drive a car because collective transportation has poor coverage and the cities and suburbs aren't walkable. The freedom is the whole point. Also, drop the superior attitude. Just state your thoughts without writing paragraphs about how dumb you find the people you talk to.

@deezynar Also, yes, traffic calming and other measures like that are spoken of all the time. It's something the Dutch are really proud of. Not sure why you call it "shenanigans". Thanks for managing to write a whole post without personal attacks, though. You're improving.

@deezynar I read all your comments. Few arguments or examples, just the same baseless claims over and over. Very condescending attitude throughout for some reason. 2/10, would not recommend.

@deezynar yes, you've said repeatedly that the Dutch government manipulates its citizens. You've said nothing about *how*.

@deezynar " I'm intentionally being provocative" That explains a lot. You might want to reconsider that, given that respect and just straight up telling people what you think makes people think way more than a smug attitude.

You sure are. I envy you your infrastructure.

My hometown (Bergen, Norway) is building and expanding bike routes and bike lanes, what Not Just Bikes call painted bicycle gutters, and people who would never protest when new roads are built are complaining about the amount of money spent. Also there are all sorts of excuses like "oh, we can't built bike infrastructure because there's hills in Norway, and it rains more here, and it gets cold in winter!". Glad the world is moving forward, nonetheless.
