We really enjoyed our time in Mexico… no where near the coast! Friendly locals, never felt in danger! In fact people were more surprised that older British people were visiting their town or city. Great place! Such a massive country we were shocked at the size and diversity of the nature, landscape and fauna.

Queretaro - lovely place! We also liked Guanajuato. Been to Novi Sad, Serbia - very safe and friendly people. We're now living in Portugal - perfect weather, lovely people, beaches, great food, nice neighbourhoods, excellent transport infrastructure - with extremely good health services. We're in the process of obtaining the residence visa and learning Portuguese.

@chrisb236 you could do a lot worse than visiting Portugal… Nazare has MASSIVE waves in the winter months - great for surfing or The Algarve for some winter sun?

@chrisb236 There are other GV investment programs. True property rules have changed BUT... it took about 12 months for the slow wheels of government to give some we know their visas. Our D7 is expected within 6 months. Stay requirements have loopholes as long as you become a tax resident with their NHR program.

@chrisb236 It's a stew of good and bad parts... lasting 10 years. Anyone can get it if they've not been a tax resident for 5 years plus - but needs to be a resident to sign up for it. Apart from the financial benefits - we enjoy the lifestyle and low costs... for the moment!
