  4. WOW! Out of over 500 comments, only a handful think this is a positive move by the Malaysian Government. I've seen a number of trade associations asking the government to rethink. 57,000 MM2H holders leaving within the next 5 years will leave a big hole which Malaysia can't afford.

MM2H is probably 4 or 5 times the income requirement, deposit requirement, and visa costs of S-MM2H and with the new MM2H you have to stay for 90 days every year - as opposed to SMM2H is 15 days in Sarawak. Selling an inferior product for 4 or 5 times the price??? I think I think remember KPMG/PWC (or another firm of global consultants) advised the Malaysian government on the new social pass - tells me all I need to know!

  9.  @iamgreat1234  57,000 MM2H holders in the last 20 years - out of 32,000,000 population - less than 0.2% in total - wealthy foreigners who buy goods and services - cars, real estate, children's education, medical services, cooks, maids, gardeners, taxi services, restaurants, coffee shops, travel services, groceries, furniture the list goes on... I'm proud to know many Malaysians and think all are wonderful people - it is a pity this policy will be law soon.

  12.  @cookmaster3626  we were thinking just visit for 90 days too but my wife and I now think... plenty more places in the world to see. Go where you’re treat best is our mantra now. We will enjoy Portugal and think of Penang but you’re right I’m sure they’ll u-turn on this quickly - I wonder how without losing face?

  15.  @iamgreat1234  How does the state subsidise for foreigners? There are too many developers producing too many condos in KL - all are available. No one will buy them for 3 million - if they did that would be the price. It seems the Malaysian government does not want foreigners to spend money there, it is a shame but there is good news - many other governments want money and are happy to make us welcome. Many, many foreigners were waiting for the new MM2H program to start again so we will all go to a better place where the government and the local people hold out the hand of friendship. I'm sure you realise governments firstly always blame foreigners for the problems with society.

  19. Someone said the Ringgit has depreciated badly over the last 5 years - with the way they're lockdown the country for 18 months, that only goes one way.

  22.  @cookmaster3626  Thoughts on Sarawak MM2H? It's just been reviewed. I believe Sarawak is somewhat of an autonomous region. My wife and I were considering before this week but now we probably wouldn't even bother visiting for a holiday.
