  38. This is a very cool episode because its a topic that has permeated the mainstream and no real conversations are truly being had about it and the ones are simply don't get the respect or the attention they deserve. I "identify" as a classical Marxist. I view things from a place of material condition and class structure. Racism is embedded in capitalism. Slavery is the epitome of capitalism, a person owns land and then owns workers to work on the land and produce from it while the profits go to the land owner and not the workers. Socialism prevents this as the core idea of socialist economics is worker ownership and free association. I see identity politics as a way to divide the lower and working class amongst itself based on race and gender over material conditions. A black person and a white person who grew up in poverty with a distrust of government has much more in common than a with a person of a same skin color who is wealthy. Gender identity has broken down into nothing more than describing personality. If you are a trans person who identifies as the opposite gender then that is an issue to discuss. but if we break down the idea of gender completely then there is no gender to transition to. Xavier is a female who transitioned into a male, a male with rather traditional tropes and characteristics. Why is that? I have concluded that gender is built around your role and means of expression. The issue is, a male or female can express themselves however they please and not revoke or change their gender. A person who identifies as poly-gender (yes thats a thing) is saying there are multiple ways they express themselves day to day, yet they claim its their gender that is changing. It is not. A gender fluid person is the same way but they are less stuck in multiple ways to express themselves and intertwine varying traits of femininity and masculinity into their appearance. A non-binary person does not describe themselves as fitting the two basic roles and decides to express themselves in an alternative way. But this does not prove they are a separate gender. They are merely non-conforming, and if they wish to use the term gender neutral, that is fine. But that does not change your biological sex and should not trump it. If you are a female who expresses themselves in a way that isn't traditionally feminine you are not a male or the absence of gender. Never will be. We do have roles that developed over time through evolution but these are being challenged now that we dont live in a society that requires them as much. When it comes to police brutality, i a white man, have experienced abuse from law enforcement my entire life. So when asked if i have ever experienced being aggressively handled by police the answer is an emphatic yes. My race clearly has nothing to do with it.
