Pay? Livable conditions? Dudes, you're in prison. It's not supposed to be rainbows and sunshine. What did you think this way? Daycare?

@ZentaBon you make a valid point. But I would argue that there should be two types of holding facilities. Behavioral Rehabilitation Facilities and Punitive Justice Prisons. People who did not commit serious crimes or who committed an act of violence not out malice but rather unfortunate circumstances or desperation should not be housed with people who will be in there for life or to be sent to deth. People who only have 1-15 year sentences shoot not be amongst the lifers who are there because they are animals and should therefore be treated as such. The lesser criminals should be given a second chance and that includes an environment that teaches them to be productive and responsible. It should not be a cakewalk or a hotel but it should not be a dark, gritty, eat or be eaten hellhole either.
