Consistently studies have shown that minimum wages increase productivity (which offsets increased pay), leads to higher consumption rates (therefore more circulation of money) and further workplace satisfaction rates (which contributes to better customer/employee relations). If those are failures then I think we may need to open a dictionary.

  8. I hate that "the far left" is unrecognizable from what I'm familiar with. Woke capitalists with their dei, mass immigration, dragon queen story hour,soft on crime policies are not exactly what we should think of when we think of Left wing. Walz has passed some decent legislation in his state though, including school lunches for children, elimination of junk fees and fixing roads.

  11.  @MrJohnDocHolliday  limited government, "fiscal responsibility" (euphemism for cutting taxes for the rich and cutting safety net programs for the poor) and free market policies aren't good and they certainly aren't conservative. Fiscal conservatism is a cancer that harms the average citizen and prohibits growth among the nation. Never has austerity worked. It only hurts people worse. You have to spend money to make money. Accept that, or continue telling people that cutting public investments will lead to food outcomes. Even though they never do and never will. I advocate a more paternalistic conservative viewpoint on government. So should all conservatives.

  21. Absolutely not. Domestic spending should never be cut. It must keep up with inflation as it's necessary to maintain our system. What needs to be cut is foreign aid, military spending, the pay of politicians, air force one etc. We also need to reform our social safety net to actually make it a safety net and not a poverty trap. Negative income tax, housing and rent subsidies, family assistance, disability supplemental income. These are the social programs that should be focused on and all rhe other ones should be done away with to pay for these.

  26. RFK can sue drug companies without personally profiting off it. I dont like that he conflated making money from winning lawsuits as being identical to not suing drug companies. However, Warren's demand that the head of the HHS not to approve or disapprove certain medications at their discretion makes no sense. If you're in charge of the nations health organization, your primary job description is literally to use your own discretion to determine which medicines should or should not be available to the public.

  41. Country club, union, nation state etc it's all the same concept. Members pay in for benefits everyone can collectively benefit from without having to pay out of pocket for every little service. Members of a union, or a country club or a family are likely to have dependents whose existence is taken into consideration. Union workers with families for instance used to get better benefits to account for their children and spouse. The military does the same thing in regards to its service members who have families. Accomodations are provided and pay is typically higher. Dependents dont get to bring others onto the base. And any guests invited by the member directly can only stay for a night or two. Our country is called the United States of America for a reason. The President addresses the State of the Union for a reason. Just like a workers union or a country club, the nation has it's paying members who work and pay into a system that provides them amenities, services and other goods for those members and their dependents. Anyone else found benefitting is extracting from the group without contributing.

  43. This bill incentivizes unions. It encourages worker protections and guaranteed paid time off. If you oppose this bill,you oppose workers. It should go further and penalize people who automate jobs.
